Art Therapy
Welcome to a therapeutic space where creativity and psychotherapy come together to support healing, self-discovery, and personal growth. Guided by a Psychotherapist with Specialist Training and Accreditation in Art Therapy, creative expression offers another pathway to understanding yourself, building resilience, and creating meaningful change.
Creativity as a Pathway to Understanding, Healing, and Growth
Art Therapy is an evidence-informed form of psychotherapy that combines conversation with creative expression to support emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, and psychological growth.
While talking remains an important part of therapy, creative expression can offer different way of exploring thoughts, emotions, memories, and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. No artistic ability is required. Art Therapy is about providing additional pathway to yourself, not creating beautiful artwork.
When Words Are Not Enough
Sometimes we know something is affecting us yet struggle to explain exactly what it is. Thoughts may feel unclear, emotions overwhelming, or experiences difficult to express.
Art Therapy recognises that not all aspects of human experience are processed through language alone. By working with images, symbols, colours, and creative processes, clients often discover new perspectives, recognise recurring patterns, and access emotions that may have been difficult to articulate.
For many people, creativity becomes another pathway towards insight, healing, and meaningful change.
What Happens in an Art Therapy Session?
Every session is tailored to the individual.
Depending on your goals and preferences, sessions may include conversation, drawing, painting, collage, clay, visual journalling, photography, or other creative processes. Some people engage extensively with art materials, while others use them only occasionally alongside traditional psychotherapy.
There is no right or wrong way to participate. The focus is never on artistic skill. Emphasis is on exploration, reflection, and personal growth.
What Can Art Therapy Help With?
Art Therapy may support people experiencing:
- Anxiety, stress, and burnout
- Depression and persistent low mood
- Trauma and adverse life experiences
- Grief and loss
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- Identity, self-esteem, and life transitions
