My Story

Hi, I’m Charlene.

I’m a Clinical Counsellor and Psychotherapist at Exclusive Wellbeing in Parramatta.

I understand that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable. Whether you’re navigating a difficult life transition, relationship challenges, feelings of overwhelm, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right, taking that first step can be hard.

My hope is to offer a space where you feel comfortable enough to show up exactly as you are. A space where you can slow down, feel heard, and begin exploring your experiences without judgement, pressure, or the expectation that you need to have everything figured out.

Аbout Ме

I am a trauma-informed counsellor and psychotherapist with a Bachelor of Counselling and Registered Clinical Membership with PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia).

Since beginning my counselling journey in 2016, I have had the privilege of supporting people through some of life’s most challenging and transformative experiences.

Originally born in the UK and raised in Singapore, I now call Australia home. Growing up across different cultures has given me a deep appreciation for the many ways our relationships, families, identities, and life experiences shape who we are.

As a mother of two, I also understand how profoundly life can shift through different stages and transitions. Becoming a parent, growing a family, navigating changing relationships, and adjusting to new seasons of life can bring both joy and unexpected challenges.

My Approach

At the heart of my work is the belief that healing happens through connection.

Rather than positioning myself as the expert on your life, I work alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and respect for your own inner wisdom. Together, we create a space where you can feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported as we explore whatever has brought you to therapy.

My work is grounded in contemporary Gestalt psychotherapy and informed by a somatic, body-aware perspective. This means we don’t just talk about your experiences; we also pay attention to how they may be showing up emotionally, physically, and relationally in the present moment.

By developing greater awareness of ourselves, our patterns, and our relationships, we create opportunities for meaningful change, healing, and growth.

Where appropriate, I also incorporate practical tools and psychoeducation, including CBT-informed strategies, to support clients in building greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and coping skills.

Areas of Interest

I work with adults experiencing a range of challenges, including:

  • Anxiety and overwhelm
  • Relationship difficulties and family conflict
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma and difficult life experiences
  • Life transitions and periods of change
  • Low self-worth and self-criticism
  • Parenting and family challenges
  • Addiction and recovery
  • Supporting loved ones affected by addiction
  • Perimenopause and the emotional impact of hormonal and life changes

I have a particular interest in supporting people through relationship challenges, family dynamics, major life transitions, and periods of feeling disconnected, stuck, or uncertain about their direction in life.

I am especially passionate about supporting new and growing families as they navigate the transition into parenthood, the arrival of additional children, changing relationship dynamics, and the evolving sense of identity that often accompanies these seasons of life.

I also enjoy supporting women through perimenopause, exploring the emotional, relational, and physical changes that can arise during this significant life transition.

Alongside this, I have extensive experience working in the field of addiction, supporting individuals and their loved ones to better understand the emotional, relational, and nervous system patterns that often sit beneath coping behaviours.

What Therapy With Me Looks Like

My approach is warm, collaborative, and non-judgemental.

Rather than focusing on what is “wrong,” I am interested in understanding what your experiences may be trying to communicate, protect, or make sense of. Together, we explore these experiences at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.

I have worked across both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings as part of multidisciplinary teams throughout Australia, and I bring this experience into my work while remaining deeply respectful of each person’s unique story and journey.

I don’t believe therapy is about fixing people. I believe it is about creating a supportive space where you can reconnect with yourself, deepen your self-understanding, strengthen your relationships, and move towards a life that feels more aligned with who you are.

It would be a privilege to walk alongside you in that process.
