Ms Dana Mitrovic, MAPS FCCLP MACPA

Clinical Psychologist
Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Master of Psychology (Clinical)

About me

I am a female clinical psychologist with over 10 years of therapeutic experience. I believe that every client is unique and requires an individualised approach to their therapy. I work with each client to specifically tailor a therapeutic approach, which will complement their own developmental history, as well as direction which they wish to go in. This comes from the belief that we need to integrate our therapies to include all internal and external facets of our lives, in order to truly make a meaningful difference within ourselves and the world around us.

Why choose me

My ideal client is one who is experiencing difficulties in their life and seeking support in working through this. I work with clients from a large range of mental health presentations. I have a strong focus on the development of our adult selves through our early developmental experiences and working toward changing unhelpful patterns in your life to create a better present and future.

I am a clinical psychologist with a strong interest and extensive experience working with clients who have experienced trauma and are presenting with complex trauma, PTSD and Personality Disorders. I also love working with people who are seeking to achieve greater balance, wellbeing and life satisfaction. I don't believe that we need to wait for things to go wrong to create a better self.

I apply an integrated therapeutic approach which is tapered to individual client needs to ensure best practice is always adhered to on an individual level. I strive to work with each person exclusively, within all external and internal facets of their lives to promote improved global wellbeing.

Therapy approaches/modalities used in my work

My therapeutic approach is about developing an integrated therapy from a variety of models, in order to best suit you. The various modalities from which I inform by approach include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment-based psychotherapy, Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CT, BT and CBT), psychodynamic therapies, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Schema Therapy. Alongside the therapeutic approach, it is vital to pay close attention to the relationship formed in therapy. Without a safe, empathic, compassionate and nurturing relationship, the modality or “intervention” cannot make ground. I ensure to take time in developing a solid and trusting relationship with all my clients, in order to maximise gains which can be made throughout therapy.

My credentials

I completed my Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at Macquarie University in 2007 and my Master of Clinical Psychology at University of Wollongong in 2009. I am a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), a fellow of the College of Clinical Psychologists, member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA), an approved provider for Blue Knot, Association of Contextual Behavioural Sciences (ACBS), and a casual academic and clinical psychologist supervisor at the University of Western Sydney.

Professional Association

I am an accredited provider through Medicare, Private Health Funds, SIRA (Worker’s Compensation and CTP), ComCare, VVCS (Open Arms) and DVA.

Areas of my specific interests

I have extensive interests in working with trauma, complex PTSD and helping people find ways to connect with their true potential and directions in life. I believe that we all need, and deserve, a journey through therapy to better understand ourselves, to develop our present and future into that which fulfils us. I work with a range of individuals from youth, adolescents, and across the lifespan of adulthood.

I provide General Private Services, services under Medicare which attract Medicare Rebate and services under SIRA and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
