Functional Trauma Treatment

Developing Individualised treatment approaches to maximise therapeutic gains

This 1-day workshop will focus on "uncomplicating the complex presentation", providing clinicians the opportunity to enhance essential skills in conceptualisation and treatment planning for complex trauma.

Learning Objectives

  1. Moving beyond a diagnostic approach to complex conceptualisation
  2. Understand various conceptualisation approaches, with a focus on complex trauma impacts on psychological, neurobiological and behavioural expression
  3. Identify how to maximise your conceptualisation to guide intervention requirements, prioritisation of each area of intervention, and using it as a measurement tool for individualised change
  4. Develop strategies to work with your own intolerance of certainty

About the Presenter


Ms Dana Mitrovic

Clinical Psychologist & Clinical Supervisor

Dana is a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience across the public mental health and private practice domains. Alongside her clinical practice, she maintains a teaching and supervising role with the Clinical Masters Program at Western Sydney University. Dana has extensive experience in working with adults presenting with trauma, complex PTSD, personality disorders and helping people find ways to connect with their true potential and directions in life. Her approach focuses on individualised conceptualisation and relevant treatment approaches, stepping away from pathology and toward personal growth.

Dana has a strong passion for Trauma Informed Care (TIC) and the development of awareness, knowledge and skills to professionals and the community in best practices in trauma. During her employment with NSW Health, she commenced the development for multidistrict training in TIC through association with the Blue Knot Foundation. She is a recognised trauma-informed provider with the Blue Knot Foundation, the National Centre for Excellence for Complex Trauma.

Dana is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), a Fellow of the College of Clinical Psychologists, Member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA), an approved provider for Blue Knot, and the Association of Contextual Behavioural Sciences (ACBS).
